Fawnd of You: NYC Bambi

You know that feeling when you come across someone whose aesthetic seems to totally mesh with yours while still inspiring you? Christie runs the blog “NYC Bambi” and graces the internet with her understated yet elegant imagery and thoughtful posts. I think what sets Christie apart more than anything is her refreshing kindness and positivity. Christie sat down to impart some of her wisdom that seems so beyond her years. She has left us with a major craving for polka dots, white linen, and all things Alexa Chung. Lady, we are so #FawndofYou

The internet can be an amazing and terrifying place all at the same time. What is it about your job that most excites you? What do you find is the most frustrating?

I love the fact that I can just share ideas, share creativity, and get inspiration from everyone I talk to/follow. There is so much out there to take inspiration from it’s literally boundless. I also love that I can find people who have the same passions as I do–that wasn’t easy when I was growing up. Honestly, I don’t find anything too frustrating, except maybe that things can be taken in the wrong way. Also, it is terrifying thinking about how large the Internet is and I’m just putting myself out there so much. Sometimes it is overwhelming if I really think about it, but I try not to think about it and take it so seriously hahaha!

How would you describe yourself in 3 words?

Creative, reserved, and ambitious

Who do you think is totally muse-worthy?

This is so hard because there are sooo many inspirational gals out there that I adore, but Alexa Chung is a true muse.

You have to fit a week’s worth of outfits in one suitcase for a trip, what are you bringing?

Realisation Par dress, 2 logo tee’s, white sneakers, a pair of sling backs from By Far, a linen skirt, white button up, Re/Done jeans, a short wrap dress, a basket bag…I think I’ve overflowed my suitcase…

Speaking of travel, where would you like to be going??

I’ve had a Europe-itch for quite some time…I already got Paris out of my system, even though I’d love to go a hundred more times, but on my mind right now is Italy.

How would you describe your aesthetic?

It’s very much neutral-focused with soft fabrics, romantic, comfortable, and a bit nostalgic I’d hope.

What sets your soul on fire and provides you with endless inspo?

Honestly just Internet-surfing. I love reading online publications like The-File, Into The Gloss, Man Repeller, online Vogue…and then there’s Tumblr and Pinterest. I could spend hours reblogging photos and looking at inspiration, it totally fulfills me.

What is your shopping list like, what should I currently have on my radar?

Usually I dabble here and there and never have a certain list, but recently I noticed that I need so many summer staples (and it’s July, like hello) so I went insane online shopping. Therefore, I have a great list put together right now! A logo t-shirt from Rouje, cami bodysuits (in black & white), a linen skirt from Reformation, a white blouse that isn’t see-through, a white Re/Done denim skirt, and anything from Lisa Says Gah.

What is the best gift you have ever received?

That is so hard! For my last birthday, my boyfriend made me a poem and I really cried. It rhymed and was hilarious yet so sweet.

I love how your passion for style expands beyond clothes into your home and your interests. I always say a house is not a home without fresh flowers, food and laundry. What is makes you feel at home?

I love that saying! I love tons of candles as well as plants and/or flowers. When everything is clean and checked off my to-do list and I can just relax on my bed with fresh sheets and be so content with the way I’ve decorated my place…that is real home to me.

Who are some artists I should be on the watch for?

Real artist-wise, it’s nothing new that I’m obsessed with Christiane Spansberg and her beautiful art. Music-artist wise, I love Beach House’s new album and the new XX!

What words of wisdom would you impart on a younger generation?

I would say just to be you and that I promise you will find your people. You may feel so stuck in school surrounded by people you don’t feel like understand you, but give it time and you will find yourself with people who understand and love you and share your passions and you will be happy, I promise.
