Seriously if you have not seen Stranger Things yet, stop reading!

This show is pure magic. I spent the entire season on the edge of my seat, wringing my hands with worry and anticipation. I laughed and I definitely cried. I developed a totally obsession with Dustin, played by Gaten Matarazzo. The lisp! The freckles! The cuteness! Don’t even get me started on the music (the music!)

I am an avid fantasy fiction reader and this show just had everything for me. I also always love a good government conspiracy!

The show is centered around a group of teen boys on a mission to find their missing friend. The quagmires the boys get themselves into are book ended by two strong female characters. Not often are we given two such glorious feminist icons in one show like we are in Stranger Things. Nancy Wheeler is the not-so-typical older sister and high school nerd. Her gamine good looks and intelligent charm get her the attention of the most popular boy in school. While she falls prey to his troublesome ways at first, she eventually stands on her own as a hero. She has killer skills with a rifle. She bravely sets monster traps and searches in the dangerous alternate reality for her best friend. She smacks the popular guy in the face for calling her a slut!  I love her.

Then we have Eleven or “El”. Her origins are mysterious but she is the most powerful character on the show. Her telepathic abilities make her a force to be reckoned with. I love the imagery of the group of boys hiding behind her when trouble erupts. When she sacrifices herself to save her friends at the end of the season, I cried all the tears. She was so selfless that she gave up the promise of the life she always wanted to save the boys. Hero status!

Okay brb, I’m going to go listen to the Stranger Things soundtrack and cry xoxoxo
