Granted, I have not been to all of my bucket list locations to fully make that decision (I’m coming for you Rome!), however it is spectacular. We have been fortunate enough to go every Summer for almost 2o years with my big extended family. While we switch up the Island every year, this Summer we were stationed in Oahu. Oahu is a tough Island to navigate if you have never been there before. It is the most crowded and urban of all the islands.  The number one thing you want to avoid as a tourist is spending your entire trip in Waikiki, the main tourist destination. Picture a tropical Vegas, ugh! The rest of the island has so much more to offer. I’ve compiled a list of my must see, do and eat while in Oahu. Aloha and happy vacationing!

Must See: Diamond Head Summit Trail

If you have ever done Runyon in your life, this hike will be no problem. Get there early! Parking can be crazy after 9 AM even on week days. The hike gets a little crowded and there is a bit with a creepy tunnel but the end is so worth it. Breathtaking views of the entire island are the reward!

Must Do: Kaneohe Sandbar

This felt like a once in a lifetime adventure. Picture yourself standing in the middle of the ocean and the water only goes up to your knees. The sandbar takes about 45 minutes to kayak out to. Bring snorkels and fins because there is a coral reef just off the edge of the sandbar. It was like swimming in an aquarium. Unreal.

Must Eat: Duc’s Bistro

Such a hidden gem. Located in picturesque Chinatown. This Vietnamese French fusion restaurant probable hasn’t had a remodel since it’s 80’s hay day. This only adds to the charm. No to mention some of the best crab cakes I’ve ever had.

Must Do: Lanikai Beach

Truly the most breathtaking Hawaiian beach I have ever been to (and I have been to a lot). Crystal blue water that is so warm it feels like a bath tub. White sand for days like its a cliché. The twin islands in the distance complete the picturesque scene. I’m telling you it’s almost a joke how amazing this place is. If you only do one thing in Oahu this should be it!

Must Eat: Asuka Nabe

THE BEST SHABU SHABU I’VE EVER HAD. Hands down. My favorite meal of the entire trip. You must go here!
